Sal Cannavale was not famous, but his strong values and love for family shaped his son, actor Bobby Cannavale.

Early Life & Family Roots

Salvatore “Sal” Cannavale was born on January 11, 1936, in North Bergen, New Jersey. His parents, Pasquale and Rosa Cannavale, came from Italy in the 1920s. Sal spent his early years helping his father deliver fresh produce. He learned that hard work and showing up matter most.

“He was always the first to rise and the last to rest,” says Bobby. “Dad taught me to work with honesty and stick with it.”
